When you decide to buy a cell phone, beyond simply
choosing which phone you wish to purchase, you must also consider what kind of
data bundle to buy. There are so many data bundles in the market right now but
I have found that the cheap internet browsing packages in Nigeria ranges from
N1, 000 to N3, 500. Telecommunications operators are shifting attention towards
deepening their share of revenue from data service provisioning. Network
operators such as Glo mobile, Swift Networks, Etisalat, Airtel (Former Zain),
Visafone, MTN, and Multilinks have some of the most pocket friendly internet
bundles in Nigeria. In this article, I will focus on the price of the internet
bundles rather than the quality of the internet service. Most telecom firms in
Nigeria do not offer consistent service quality throughout the country. A
network may offer quality service in an area and poor services in other areas.
I will leave it to the user to determine quality issues. Here are some internet
packages:
Visafone 1.2GB
Internet Browsing Plan
The Visafone 1.2GB internet bundle is now the best priced
internet bundle money can buy at N3, 000. It offers 24 hours browsing and puts
Visafone in a good position. However, the Visafone 1.2GB browsing bundle is
only available on EVDO (3G) coverage area. In addition, it is a mobile bundle.
However, if experience with GSM operators is anything to go by, it will work
with internet modems. So, if you need more than 500MB within 30 days, this data
bundle may meet your browsing needs.
1GB Internet
Browsing Plan
This is our most preferred deal for cheap internet
browsing in Nigeria on GSM. The 1GB internet browsing bundle offers 30-day 24/7
internet access limited to 1GB data for N3, 000. Currently two networks offer
the 1GB bundle, they are Glo and Airtel. It strikes the right balance between
price, convenience, and data usage limit. Although both offer the same deal, I
recommend Glo, because they seem to offer better quality internet service than
Airtel.
If you need more than 500MB data access in a month, Airtel
or Glo 1GB internet browsing package is your best choice. It is imperative to
stress that depending on your browsing needs, the 1GB may be too much for you
especially if you browse with your mobile phone. If your monthly internet
browsing need is less than 400MB, the 1GB internet bundle is not the best for
you. You should consider Glo Always Micro, MTN 500MB, Swift Liberty Plus, or
MTN 250MB.
500MB internet
browsing package
Etisalat 500MB internet browsing bundle was the first
500MB internet browsing bundle and at launch was the best priced internet
bundle in Nigeria offering 500MB for N3,000. However, Glo with its aggressive
pricing has since made this package less attractive. But, MTN has brought new
spark to the 500MB bundle by pricing it at N2, 000. At N2, 000, the MTN 500MB
mobile internet bundle makes more sense. 500MB is a good deal if you need more
than 200MB but less than 500MB in a month. Etisalat has now revamped its 500MB
browsing plan pricing it similar to MTN at N2, 000. Airtel and Swift now also
offer 200MB at N2, 000.
200MB internet
browsing packages
Etisalat, Airtel and Glo offer 200MB internet browsing
bundles priced at N1, 000. The 200MB internet package from Glo, Airtel, and
Etisalat are great deals for browsing directly on your mobile phone. If you
need less than 200MB in a 30-day period these browsing deals are very
compelling. They are great for entry level users, definitely better than going
to a cyber cafe. The 200MB internet browsing bundles from Glo and Etisalat are
our best pick for entry level internet package if you want 24/7 internet access
on your mobile phone. The 200MB Internet browsing plan are not for users who do
lots of downloads and uploads. Remember that once you use up your 200MB
internet browsing allocation, even if it is just 2 hours after you activated,
your internet access will be deactivated. Hence the 200MB internet browsing
plan, although better than 100MB internet browsing bundles, is for users with
limited internet needs. So, what are you waiting for? Go out there and get the
best data bundle for you.
