The battle for market leadership in Nigeria’s mobile
handset market is becoming increasingly competitive as phone manufacturers
jostle to capture more market share especially in the smartphone segment. Huawei
Device, a leading global information and communications technology solutions
provider, in strategic partnership with Visafone Communication is making a bold
statement with the introduction of Ascend C8655 CDMA smartphone. The
smartphone, which fulfils the promise of a sleek phone with creative components,
a smooth user-interface, fast functions and simple interactions, was launched
in Lagos at the weekend.
Conscious of the competition in the industry, the phone
manufacturers promised to make the device a toast of mobile users in no distant
time through innovations and add-ons, saying the product is famous for its
affordability and effectiveness as it melds uniquely with desired carrier to
give phone users a flawless encounter considering the simplicity of the
operations and the dynamism in the experience.
The device is however backed by the DTS Professional
Voice Effect technology, an ultra-slim and stylish design, and a 3.5” inch IPS
display screen. But more importantly, the smartphone booths in 5 seconds flat,
giving users that ready-to-go device.
The Chinese phone maker said when fully depleted, the
device can be revived with a full charge in 90 minutes. Furthermore, the device
has an easy setup for Social Network Systems (SNS) and group contacts, powers
fluidly on the HUAWEI Emotion UI (User Interface), and engages the High-speed
EVDO network in an arrangement of fast and well-coordinated functions. At the
launch of the device in Lagos, weekend, David Pan, president, Huawei
Technologies Nigeria, said the entry of the Huawei Ascend C8655 CDMA smart
phone into the Nigerian Market will present consumers with an excellent device
and an unforgettable experience.
According to him, the company, which holds a significant
share of the wireless market and is advantageously positioned in the all-IP
convergence era (Mobile, Fixed and Software Solutions), aimed to enrich life
through communication, by focusing on challenges and needs faced by customers.
It is also poised to provide excellent ICT solutions and services to create
maximum value for its customers. Chairman of Visafone, Jim Ovia, who co-hosted
the launch, noted that the company is in Nigeria to support the local economy
and empower the populace as there will be business chains that will generate
employment for the teeming populace. He described Nigeria’s market as very
significant, saying “the company is here to impact positively on the lives of
the populace by providing them affordable and reliable products”.
Speaking in the same vein, Srinivasa Venkatappa, chief
operating officer (COO), Visafone Communications said as a matter of strategy
the telecoms company has continued to focus on data services. “Huawei has been
supporting us grow the capacity of our network by providing us with high
quality of equipments. After a while, we thought it wise to bring in their
range of smartphones to meet the needs of Nigerians. Though, many Nigerians
have access to smartphones but they may not have experienced the speed and
efficiency of our data service.” The device is priced at about N27, 000 with
1GB of data from Visafone. Still on the features of the device, the Ascend
doesn’t disappoint at all when used for entertainment purposes.
It houses a Dual Microphone Noise Reduction technology,
protecting your ears while amplifying your musical affair. The Ascend has the
option for Loud and Stereo Speaker, an IPS screen display, plus support for
XHTML and WLAN for a robust online encounter.
More so, the smooth Contact link allows users to import
and share contacts details, extending to Batch contacts import through BT,
allowing for stronger integration of SNS with contacts. It also delivers a
one-click back-up and recovery process which is graceful enough to back-up
‘everything’, like Contacts, SMS, etc.
It is smart enough to help users choose data recovery
from anytime, and can be initiated at any point so that the recovery is
pin-point and accurately targeted.
